ROAD RAGE SHOOTING PROBED AFTER REGADA FESTIVAL IN CAVITE
KAWIT, Cavite — Authorities are investigating an alleged road rage incident along Tirona Highway in Barangay Kanluran in which a suspect reportedly fired a gun at two motorcycle riders returning from the Regada Festival in Cavite City.
The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon. The victim, identified by the alias “Joefer,” 33, a bouncer from Barangay Buhay na Tubig in Imus City, was riding with a companion identified as “Rodel.”
Police said both the victim and the suspect, identified as “Aries,” a resident of Barangay Anabu 1-E in Imus City, had attended the festival before taking the same route home.
Tension allegedly developed between the two parties while passing through Noveleta. Near the Epza-Potol Diversion Road, the suspect reportedly revved his motorcycle repeatedly, leading to a verbal confrontation. The altercation continued as both parties traveled along Tirona Highway.
The victim’s companion told authorities the suspect produced a firearm and discharged it in their direction, causing both riders to lose control of their motorcycles. The suspect allegedly continued to pursue the victim after the shooting. No injuries were reported.
Investigators recovered a sling bag allegedly left behind by the suspect containing an identification card, which may serve as evidence in the case. Follow-up operations are underway to locate the suspect and determine appropriate charges.
