GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite — A construction worker was wounded Friday after being struck by a stray bullet during a shootout between two men in Barangay San Francisco, police said.
The victim, identified only by the alias “Rick,” was walking to work and unaware of the dispute when he was hit, according to authorities.
The General Trias Component City Police Station said it received a call from duty patrollers in Sector 5 around 6:27 p.m. Friday reporting a shooting in Section C, Block 2 of Tropical Village subdivision.
Rick was rushed to GenTri Medical Center in Barangay Manggahan for initial treatment, then transferred to General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital in Trece Martires City for further treatment, police said.
Initial investigation found the shooting stemmed from a heated argument between two suspects identified by the aliases “Manman” and “Dats,” which escalated into an exchange of gunfire, according to police.
The suspects fled the scene in an unspecified direction immediately after the shooting, authorities said.
Police said the investigation is ongoing as they work to locate the suspects and hold them accountable. Authorities are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to contact the nearest police station.
