GENERAL TRIAS, Cavite — A 22-year-old Cavite native has graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, earning multiple military distinctions during his four-year exchange program with the Philippine Military Academy.
Cadet First Class Renzo Jamir Almodovar, a former member of PMA’s “Siklab-Laya” Class of 2025, completed his studies at West Point on May 22 under the Foreign Pre-Commission Training Institute program, earning a Bachelor of Science in International Affairs with a specialization in Strategic Studies.
During his tenure at the academy, Almodovar was named to the Dean’s List and received several military recognitions, including the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge Gold, the Norwegian Foot March Badge Silver, and the USMA Recondo Qualification.
He is the son of Montano Almodovar, current Chief of Staff of the AFP Strategic Command and a member of PMA’s “Bantay-Laya” Class of 1994.
Upon his commissioning into the Philippine Army, the younger Almodovar said he intends to pursue assignments with the Infantry, Scout Rangers, and Special Forces, and to develop expertise in Military Intelligence.
The PMA said his graduation reflects the academy’s expanding international military education program and the growing capacity of Filipino cadets to compete alongside officers from allied nations.
