Megaworld eyes General Trias as Cavite’s next premier business district
GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite — Megaworld Corporation is positioning its 140-hectare Maple Grove township here as the province’s answer to Bonifacio Global City, envisioning a master-planned community that fuses sustainable living, green technology, and a Makati-inspired commercial core.
Harold Geronimo, the company’s first vice president for corporate communications and media affairs, outlined the ambitious development blueprint during a major briefing for the township, describing Maple Grove as the “Green City of the South” and Cavite’s emerging premier business district.
At the heart of the plan is a 35-hectare commercial zone dedicated to corporate high-rises, business process outsourcing offices, and luxury retail — a deliberate echo of Makati’s dense financial corridor, transplanted to Cavite’s fast-urbanizing southern corridor.
The township’s infrastructure departs from conventional subdivision design. Underground wiring and utilities eliminate the visual clutter of overhead lines, while solar panels and energy-efficient LED lighting are built into the community’s core systems. Wide, dedicated bicycle and jogging lanes are integrated throughout to reduce vehicle dependency.
Flood management is also baked into the master plan. A 2-hectare Rainwater Park doubles as recreational open space during dry months and a storm drainage catchment basin during heavy rainfall, complementing a Central Park that anchors the development’s green corridor.
Megaworld is marketing the township under an integrated “live-work-play” framework, with multiple residential, commercial, and lifestyle sub-developments operating within the same ecosystem.
General Trias City has emerged in recent years as one of Cavite’s fastest-growing urban centers, attracting industrial and real estate investment from major Philippine developers.
