DASMARIÑAS CITY, Cavite — A barangay tanod and a woman vendor were killed in a shooting in Barangay Emmanuel Bergado 1 on Monday morning, police said.
The incident occurred at around 8:43 a.m. when the tanod, identified by his alias Rody, 51, was walking to buy food when an unidentified man followed and shot him before fleeing with a short firearm.
Also killed in the attack was Annalinda, 48, a vendor and resident of the same barangay. Both victims were declared dead on the spot.
Witnesses described the suspect as about 5 feet 2 inches tall, slim, and wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt and black pants.
Police are reviewing closed-circuit television footage from areas the suspect may have passed through to establish his identity. Investigators are also looking into whether the shooting was related to the victim’s work as a barangay tanod.
