INDANG, Cavite — A dispute turned violent when a man was shot in the neck by an acquaintance outside a house in Purok 3, Barangay Kaytambog late Monday, April 20, police said.
The victim, identified only by his alias “Ronnie,” an unemployed resident of the barangay, was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
A witness told police he saw Ronnie and the suspect, identified by his alias “Rey,” arguing in front of the house. The witness said he tried to break up the confrontation and sent the suspect home to defuse the situation.
Minutes later, Rey returned and resumed the argument. During the confrontation, Ronnie allegedly dared the suspect to settle the dispute with fists, saying he knew the suspect was carrying a gun and suggesting they fight hand-to-hand instead.
Rey allegedly drew a firearm of undetermined caliber and shot Ronnie before fleeing aboard a Montero Sport.
Police said a manhunt operation was underway for the suspect. Investigators believe a long-standing grudge between the two men may have triggered the shooting, though the motive was still under investigation.
