Loboc River Cruise Raises Fare to P1,200 Amid Rising Operating Costs

LOBOC, Bohol, Philippines — The Loboc River Cruise, one of the Philippines’ most iconic tourist attractions, will raise its admission fare to 1,200 pesos beginning April 16, as operators cite mounting economic pressures that have strained the daily operations of the floating restaurant experience.

The Loboc Bohol Tourism office announced the adjustment in an official advisory, describing the price increase as unavoidable given the country’s current economic conditions. Operators said the new rate was necessary to sustain service quality and ensure visitors continue to enjoy a memorable experience along the scenic Loboc River.

The fare hike comes as businesses across the Philippines contend with elevated fuel prices driven in part by ongoing Middle East tensions that have disrupted global petroleum supply chains. Transport, food service, and tourism operators have been among the hardest hit, with many passing increased costs on to consumers.

The Loboc River Cruise has long been a centerpiece of Bohol’s tourism industry, drawing both domestic and foreign visitors who dine aboard floating barges as they glide along the lush, tree-lined river in the island province’s interior. Despite the adjustment, cruise management assured the public that its focus on delivering an enjoyable and worthwhile experience for tourists would remain unchanged.

Bohol is one of the Philippines’ top tourism destinations, with the Loboc River Cruise ranking alongside the Chocolate Hills and the Philippine tarsier as signature attractions that anchor the province’s multibillion-peso tourism economy.
