MANILA, Philippines — The first shipment of diesel imported by the Department of Energy has arrived, providing about 22.6 million liters, or 142,000 barrels, of additional fuel supply for the country.

The delivery is part of the Emergency Energy Security Program being implemented by the DOE under Executive Order No. 110, issued by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., to boost oil supply amid volatile global oil prices.

The program is being carried out with the DOE’s attached agencies, the Philippine National Oil Corp. and PNOC Exploration Corp., as part of a target of up to 2 million barrels in additional supply for the country.

“The DOE continues to focus on increasing the oil supply in the country. The rapid arrival of this diesel is part of measures to prevent disruptions to travel, livelihoods and the daily lives of every Filipino,” Energy Secretary Sharon S. Garin said.
