More than 800 families were preemptively evacuated in the province of Cavite on Friday, September 26, 2025 as the powerful typhoon Opong battered the Visayas and Luzon, according to local disaster officials.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) reported that 802 families, equivalent to 2,734 individuals, were moved to temporary shelters from various towns and cities.

The evacuations were ordered as a precaution against potential flooding and landslides.

As of 11 a.m. on Sept. 26, 2025, the town of Ternate recorded the highest number of evacuees with 200 families, or 570 individuals.

This was followed by Bacoor with 156 families (608 individuals) and Naic with 83 families (315 individuals).

Despite the significant displacement, the PDRRMO reported no casualties related to the storm.

The typhoon’s impact on infrastructure appeared limited early Friday.

Officials reported only one power outage in the town of Amadeo.

Water services remained uninterrupted across the province.

Emergency operations centers throughout Cavite remain activated to monitor the situation and coordinate response efforts as the storm passes.
