TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite — A retired Philippine Navy personnel allegedly shot a construction worker dead during a drinking session and attempted to hide the victim’s body in Barangay Lapidario, Trece Martires City, police said.
The victim, identified as Marlon Velasco, 47, of Barangay Lapidario, was shot in the head around 2:40 p.m. Monday by a man known as alias Ric, 59, a fellow resident of the barangay.
According to police, Velasco and the suspect were drinking when an argument broke out. The dispute escalated, prompting Ric to shoot Velasco.
A witness told authorities he heard a gunshot and went to check, only to find the suspect covering the victim’s body with metal sheets to conceal it.
The incident was reported to barangay officials, who alerted the police. Responding officers arrested the suspect, who is now facing a murder charge.
