CAVITE, Philippines — The Cavite Police Provincial Office on Monday issued a public advisory urging residents to strengthen home security measures amid increased risks of burglary during the Holy Week.

Dubbed “Ligtas SUMVAC 2025,” the campaign focuses on preventing “akyat-bahay” incidents — a common term for break-ins in the Philippines — by promoting basic but effective safety tips. Police encouraged residents to ensure all windows and doors are locked before leaving their homes, and recommended the use of double-locks and other types of sturdy locks that are difficult for intruders to bypass.

“If no one will be left at home, entrust the house to a reliable person,” the advisory stated. It also urged residents to inform trusted neighbors to check in periodically, and to immediately report any suspicious activity to authorities.

The advisory noted that individuals can also coordinate with security guards or local police for added protection in their communities.

The police department emphasized that cooperation among neighbors and vigilance can go a long way in preventing crime during the summer months.

For more information, the public is encouraged to contact the Cavite Police through their official email at [email protected] or through the P.O.W.E.R. Services App.
