DASMARIÑAS, Cavite – Authorities have seized an estimated P10.2 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested one suspect in a drug sting in Cavite province, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said Thursday.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Sian,” was apprehended during a buy-bust operation conducted Tuesday in Dasmariñas City, PDEA said in a statement.
Agents confiscated roughly 1.5 kilograms of suspected crystal methamphetamine, locally known as shabu, along with a mobile phone, marked money, drug paraphernalia, and a rental agreement linked to the suspect.
The 30-year-old man will face charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, PDEA added.
Shabu remains the most commonly seized narcotic in the country, followed by marijuana, according to PDEA spokesperson Joseph Frederick Calulut.
“Based on our data, shabu is the most prevalent drug used here. Most of the substances confiscated in buy-bust and search warrant operations are shabu,” Calulut said.
As of last month, nearly 30,000 out of 42,045 barangays nationwide have been declared free of illegal drugs, according to the agency.
