Police in Kawit, Cavite have arrested a suspect for alleged drug-related offences. The arrest was made last week during an anti-illegal drug operation conducted by the Kawit Municipal Police Station’s Drugs Enforcement Unit and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
According to authorities, the operation resulted in the arrest of a local resident, known by the alias “Boy”, after he allegedly sold one small sachet of suspected methamphetamine, locally known as “shabu”. The suspect, a resident of Brgy Aplaya in Kawit, was properly informed of his constitutional rights before being taken into custody.
PLTCol. Socrates Jaca, the Officer-in-Charge of the Kawit Municipal Police Station, said the arrest was part of the station’s ongoing campaign against all forms of criminality in Kawit. He added that the operation serves as a “stern warning to the public to refrain from engaging in illegal drugs.”
The suspect faces charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
