A suspect in a robbery in Imus City, Cavite, was apprehended by police within an hour of the crime, following a high-speed pursuit on Wednesday.

The incident occurred at approximately 7pm last Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024, when two male suspects entered a motorcycle shop in Barangay Pasong Buaya 1, Imus City, and held up the owner, Mr Rolly G Aguila, at gunpoint.

The suspects made off with the victim’s mobile phone and cash worth P10,000 pesos.

The getaway vehicle, a white Nissan Urvan with plate number ATA 6441, was later found parked in a parking area in front of J&T Express, Aguinaldo Highway, Barangay Anabu 2-D, Imus City.

Police identified the driver of the vehicle as one of the suspects, alias “Jofferson”, a 38-year-old resident of Barangay Malagasang 1-G, Imus City.

Operatives from the Imus City Community Police Station (CCPS) arrested Jofferson, but his accomplice, alias “Rogelio”, managed to evade capture.

During the arrest, police recovered several key pieces of evidence, including two vehicle plates, a short firearm and ammunition, a black airsoft pistol, and cash worth P1,580 pesos.

Regional Director PBGen Paul Kenneth T Lucas praised the swift action of the police involved in the operation. “The quick response of our police is truly commendable. This operation showcases our excellence and efficiency in conducting investigations and follow-up operations.”

The police are urging anyone with information about the whereabouts of the second suspect to come forward. “We appeal to the public to report any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect,” said RD Lucas.

The operation is part of the Philippine National Police’s efforts to combat crime and ensure public safety in Cavite.
