Residents of Cavite are bracing for the worst as multiple storms and low-pressure areas (LPAs) are being monitored in and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), threatening to bring heavy rains and floods to Calabarzon region.
Super Typhoon Yagi, formerly known as Tropical Storm Enteng, is expected to make landfall in Hainan Island, southern China today but its outer rain bands may still affect the Philippines.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Leepi is being monitored outside the PAR, southeast of Japan, while a new tropical depression has formed outside the PAR, east of Extreme Northern Luzon.
Two other LPAs are also being tracked, one east of Northern Luzon within the PAR, which may develop into a new LPA or even a storm in the next few hours or days.
Another LPA is located in the Pacific Ocean, east of Mindanao, outside the PAR, but also has the potential to develop into a storm.
The province’s low-lying areas are particularly prone to flooding, and residents are urged to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
The Cavite provincial government and disaster risk reduction and management office are closely monitoring the situation and are ready to respond to any emergencies that may arise.
