Philippine police arrested nine suspects in a voice phishing (vishing) scam operation in Cavite, authorities said Monday.
The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) executed search warrants at two locations linked to the main suspect, known as “Apol”, in General Trias and Trece Martires cities.
Officers seized registered SIM cards, information and communication technology devices, bank documents containing account information, credit card records, and scripts used to contact victims.
The operation followed an eight-month surveillance prompted by numerous complaints of computer-related fraud, police said.
The suspects allegedly posed as bank employees to deceive victims and steal money.
The arrested individuals face charges under the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
The PNP-ACG called on financial institutions to assist in the investigation and urged victims to report incidents to their office.
