Kawit, Cavite — Police arrested a suspected drug dealer in a buy-bust operation Friday night in Kawit, Cavite province.
The suspect, identified only as “Lester,” was apprehended around 10:10 p.m. in Barangay Toclong after allegedly selling a small plastic sachet of suspected methamphetamine, locally known as “shabu,” to an undercover officer.
The operation was conducted by the Kawit Municipal Police Station’s Drug Enforcement Unit in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 4A.
Police Lt. Col. Richard D. Corpuz, chief of the Kawit Municipal Police Station, said the suspect was informed of his rights and taken into custody.
Corpuz stated the arrest is part of the station’s intensified campaign against widespread crime and illegal drugs in Kawit town.
The suspect faces charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
