CARMONA, Cavite – A retired Philippine Army sergeant was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly threatening traffic enforcers and violating gun laws in Carmona City, south of Manila, local police said.
The incident occurred when traffic enforcers issued a citation to the suspect for reckless driving and disregarding traffic signs. According to police reports, the man confronted the enforcers while carrying a firearm.
Carmona police chief Lieutenant Colonel Jefferson P. Ison said officers responded to the scene and apprehended the suspect. A Wilson Combat .45 caliber pistol with ammunition was seized, along with other items including alleged drug paraphernalia.
The suspect, whose identity was not disclosed, is currently in police custody. He faces charges of making threats and violating Republic Act 10591, the country’s comprehensive firearms and ammunition regulation act.
Authorities are conducting further investigations into the incident, including the suspect’s possession of items allegedly related to illegal drug use.
