The family of a businessman who was robbed last week and shot by unidentified thieves in Barangay Malagasang II-F, Imus, Cavite, is calling for justice.

According to the Imus Police report, the 42-year-old victim was shot after the perpetrator allegedly stole ₱12,000 from him.

CCTV footage obtained by authorities shows the victim and his live-in partner crossing from a lotto outlet to their car. As they boarded the vehicle, a man ran up from behind and also got into their car.

“Upon entering the suspect’s pickup, they were followed. After traveling approximately 100 meters, the vehicle came to a stop. It is possible that the suspect shot the driver at that point,” said PMaj. Ernesto Chavez, Deputy Chief of Police at the Imus City Component Police Station.

Police believe that the perpetrator may have been familiar with the victim, as they were waiting precisely when the victim and his companion were collecting funds.

“After leaving their residence in the subdivision, the suspect continued to tail them. Our investigation indicates that the suspect acted alone,” added Chavez.

Authorities are continuing their investigation, focusing on potential persons of interest in pursuit of the assailant.
