In a surprising turn of events, street sweepers in Noveleta, Cavite, recently stumbled upon a sealed plastic bag on the Calero Bridge, initially suspected to contain methamphetamine, also known as shabu.

The sweepers, who were working in Brgy. San Rafael 4, found a white substance inside the sealed bag, which they promptly reported to the local authorities. The news quickly spread on social media, causing a stir among the local community.

However, the Noveleta Police, in a subsequent examination, confirmed that the substance was not shabu.

The Noveleta police station stated, “The recovered ‘One-piece resealable zip-lock transparent plastic bag containing alleged white Crystalline Substance of suspected SHABU’ was brought to the Cavite Provincial Forensic Unit, Imus City, Cavite on May 7, 2024 for the conduct of the proper examination… The result of the said examination from the specimen submitted if it contains illegal drugs was NEGATIVE.”

The Municipality of Noveleta also addressed the incident on their Facebook page, stating, “The recovered suspected shabu at the Calero Bridge is not a type of illegal drug after it underwent laboratory examination and no authority has claimed that it is shabu.”
