Cavite Couple Found Dead in Davao City Condo

A couple, who had travelled to Davao City to attend a concert, were found dead in a condominium on Sunday, April 21, 2024.

The victims have been identified as Jeff Predas from Parañaque City and his girlfriend Jennifer Chavez from Bacoor, Cavite.

According to reports, the bodies of the victims were found in different locations within the condo.

Chavez’s body was discovered inside the unit they were staying in around 10:00 PM on Sunday. She had sustained stab wounds to the neck and various parts of her body.

Meanwhile, a male body was found around 5:30 AM on Sunday on the first floor of the condominium building. The man had nine stab wounds and is suspected to have been thrown from the sixth floor of the building. He was positively identified as Predas based on the tattoos on his body.

The victims’ family stated that the couple had travelled from Manila to Davao City to watch the “We The Kings” Asia Tour concert on Sunday.

The two arrived separately at the condo on Saturday. “Around 9 PM on Saturday, we lost contact. That was our last conversation,” said Chavez’s sibling.

Based on the authorities’ investigation, a ‘crime of passion’ or ‘personal grudge’ is a possible motive for the murder of the couple.

“Based on the evidence and their belongings, including money and IDs found in the room, we believe they were together in a room before the incident,” said Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Director, Colonel Richard Bad-ang.

“One of the motives we are looking at is a crime of passion and anger. The man had stab wounds and it seems he fell from the sixth floor as we found a fingerprint and traces of blood. However, there were no traces of blood leading up to the sixth floor from the room [on the third floor]. It seems someone committed the crime, carried the man, and dropped him down,” he added.

One of the two persons of interest, who booked the room for the victims, has reportedly presented themselves to the police. The authorities’ investigation into the incident is ongoing.
