A man who was wanted for robbery was arrested by the Dasmariñas City Police Station while he was applying for a national police clearance on Monday afternoon.
The suspect, identified as Edgar, 39, a welder from Antipolo, was nabbed by the personnel of the Warrant Section after the police clearance system showed that he had a pending warrant of arrest for robbery.
According to PLTCOL JULIUS BAYBADO BALANO, the officer-in-charge of the Dasmariñas CPS, Edgar was one of the suspects in a robbery case filed in 2018 at the Regional Trial Court Branch 73 in Antipolo City. The court issued a warrant of arrest against him with a bail of P100,000.
Edgar was unaware of his warrant and went to the Dasmariñas CPS to process his police clearance for employment purposes. He was arrested by the police using body-worn cameras and alternative recording devices.
He is now under the custody of the Dasmariñas CPS and will be turned over to the court of origin.
The Dasmariñas CPS said that the arrest of Edgar was part of their intensified drive to ensure a secure and safe environment in the city.
The action officer for the case was PCPT POLLY B PADIOS, the public information officer of the Dasmariñas CPS.
