KAWIT, Cavite – Police arrested a suspected drug dealer last week in Kawit, Cavite province, as part of an ongoing anti-drug campaign.

The suspect, identified only as “Mark,” was apprehended around 2:45 p.m. in Barangay Toclong during a buy-bust operation, according to Kawit Municipal Police Chief Lt. Col. Richard D. Corpuz.

Authorities say the suspect sold one small plastic sachet containing suspected methamphetamine, locally known as “shabu,” to an undercover officer.

The operation was conducted by the Drugs Enforcement Unit and Intelligence Operatives of the Kawit Municipal Police Station in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 4A.

Police say the suspect, a resident of Barangay Toclong, was informed of his rights and taken to the Kawit Municipal Police Station for processing.

Corpuz stated that the police will continue their efforts against all forms of criminality and warned the public to refrain from engaging in illegal drug activities.

The suspect faces charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
