NAIC, Cavite — Police arrested one of two suspects accused of robbing a motorcycle at gunpoint after a brief chase in Barangay Halang here Thursday afternoon.
The Cavite Police Provincial Office said the incident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. in Villa Adelaida, Barangay Halang. Two residents identified by the aliases “Gina” and “Rafael,” both from Naic, were riding a black Honda Click when two suspects blocked their path, pointed a gun at them and forced them to hand over the motorcycle, police said.
Gina managed to escape and flagged down a Naic Municipal Police Station mobile patrol car in the area, triggering a chase toward Villa Adelaida. One of the suspects, identified by the alias “Jomari,” lost his balance and fell while attempting to flee and was immediately arrested by responding officers, police said.
Officers recovered a .38-caliber revolver loaded with four bullets from the suspect, along with the stolen Honda Click, which was placed under evidence documentation and custody. The firearm and ammunition will undergo verification and ballistic examination, and police are preparing charges against the suspect for carnapping and violation of Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Jomari was brought to the Naic Municipal Police Station, informed of his rights and is undergoing inquest proceedings. The second suspect, identified by the alias “Ome,” is a minor and is undergoing discernment proceedings.
