MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has expanded the Suntrust Ecotown Tanza Special Economic Zone in Tanza, Cavite, through Proclamation No. 1337, signed July 6, 2026.
The proclamation adds approximately 331,348 square meters of land in barangays Punta I and Sahud-Ulan to the economic zone.
Marcos also expanded the Light Industry and Science Park IV Special Economic Zone in Malvar, Batangas, through Proclamation No. 1338, adding about 308,065 square meters in barangays Luta Sur and San Fernando.
The government said the expansions were carried out on the recommendation of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority to attract more investment, generate jobs and expand business opportunities in the affected areas.
PEZA, created under Republic Act 7916, oversees the country’s network of special economic zones, which offer investors incentives such as income tax holidays and duty-free importation in exchange for locating operations in designated areas.
The agency has pushed for continued zone expansions in Calabarzon — which includes Cavite and Batangas — one of the country’s most industrialized regions, as part of efforts to sustain foreign and domestic investment inflows.
