CAVITE — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has stepped up security measures in schools following two separate stabbing incidents recorded in Cavite educational institutions on June 16 and June 19, 2026.
In a statement, the PNP expressed concern over the incidents, which involved students from different schools. Police said investigations are ongoing to determine the full details of the incidents while protecting the rights and privacy of the minors involved.
PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. ordered all police units nationwide to increase visibility and conduct continuous preventive patrols in and around schools, with particular focus on student arrival, recess, and dismissal times to prevent incidents that could threaten the safety of students and teachers.
The Police Regional Office CALABARZON and the Cavite Police Provincial Office were directed to strictly enforce the directive within their jurisdictions.
Aside from patrols, police will coordinate with school officials and local governments to conduct security assessments, perimeter checks, and stronger access control on campuses, as part of a broader campaign to maintain order and safety in educational institutions, the PNP said.
Nartatez stressed that there is no room for any form of violence inside schools.
“The PNP will continue working with schools, local governments, and other sectors to ensure a safe, orderly, and conducive learning environment for every child,” he said.
The PNP also called on parents and teachers to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity to authorities to prevent similar incidents in the future.
