SM CLARIFIES 200-HECTARE CARMONA CITY DEVELOPMENT, FUTURE MALL PLANS
CARMONA, Philippines — SM has clarified naming confusion around its township project in Carmona, saying SM Carmona City refers to a 200-hectare mixed-use development spanning Barangays Maduya and Lantic, not a single mall.
The project, previously called Carmona Smart City and later Carmona International City, is now officially known as SM Carmona City, or SMCC.
The township will include hospitals, transport terminals, residential condominiums, schools, universities, parks and a future SM mall, according to the company.
SM Prime Holdings has not announced when construction of the mall will begin, though the company has mentioned the planned shopping center in multiple public disclosures.
According to information from Jessel M. Kabigting, senior vice president and head of SM Estates at SM Prime Holdings Inc., dated March 31, 2025, the planned mall will be built near a new South Luzon Expressway interchange in Barangay Maduya. That interchange is separate from the existing Carmona Exit.
Development plans show the proposed mall, labeled “Gateway Mall,” adjacent to a planned National University Carmona campus.
