Suspected P5.4-million drug haul found on roof after woman flees police in Cavite
GENERAL TRIAS, Cavite – Authorities recovered suspected methamphetamine with an estimated street value of P5.4 million from a house roof here on Tuesday, following a drug operation that led to two arrests and a suspect’s escape.
The resident of the house in Barangay Kawayan II reported hearing a loud thud on her roof Monday evening while dining with her family.
Upon investigation, she discovered a woman hiding on the roof between the bathroom and a firewall. After the woman asked for assistance, the homeowner allowed her inside through a window. The woman then rushed downstairs and exited through the front door.
The following day, the homeowner recalled seeing a box on the roof and checked it, finding eight packs of a white crystalline substance. She immediately reported the discovery to barangay officials, who subsequently notified the police.
Responding officers from the General Trias City Police recovered the box, which contained approximately 799.93 grams of the suspected illegal drug, locally known as shabu.
The evidence was turned over to the Philippine National Police Forensic Unit for confirmatory chemical analysis.
Police investigators have yet to identify the woman but suspect she is linked to a buy-bust operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in the same barangay on Monday.
That operation resulted in the arrest of two male suspects, while a female companion reportedly evaded capture.
“Initial investigation indicates that the recovered shabu is connected to the PDEA operation yesterday. We believe the woman who hid on the roof was the one who escaped, and she abandoned the contraband,” said a police official familiar with the case.
Authorities are now reviewing barangay security camera footage and conducting follow-up investigations to identify and locate the missing female suspect.
