IMUS, Cavite — Officials from all 97 barangays in this city underwent a surprise mandatory drug test Thursday as part of the local government’s ongoing campaign for a safe and clean public service.

The testing was conducted at the City of Imus Sports Complex and led by the city’s Peace and Order and Public Safety Office (POPS).

The operation was conducted in coordination with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Office of the City Engineer, the Office of the City General Services Officer, the Logistics Team of the Office of the City Mayor, the City Information Technology and Records Management Unit, and the Imus Police.

City officials said the activity proves a zero-tolerance policy for illegal drug use among public servants.

“This is a clear message that we are committed to a drug-free workplace and trustworthy governance,” a spokesperson for the local government said. “We expect our barangay officials, who are at the frontline of public service, to lead by example.”

The surprise drug test is part of the city’s broader “Angat Ang Imus” (Raise Imus) advocacy program, which aims to promote transparency, accountability, and the overall welfare of the community.

Authorities said the results of the drug tests will be processed and released following standard procedures.

Officials who test positive for illegal substance use may face administrative and criminal charges in accordance with national law and civil service rules.
