Silang Mayor Gives Prime Water 30 Days to Fix Service or Face Contract Termination

SILANG, Cavite — Mayor Ted Carranza has given Prime Water Infrastructure Corp. a 30-day ultimatum to resolve its service backlog, warning that failure to do so could lead to the termination of its contract as the primary water supplier for the municipality.

The mayor issued the challenge during a dialogue between the Silang Water District, Prime Water and residents at the New Silang Municipal Hall.

“We believe that you should put more money and invest in capital expenditures, like improvement of the water line in Bulihan,” Carranza said. “If you do not, that is a violation of the joint venture agreement and that is a ground for termination.”

Carranza explained that Prime Water has yet to complete its obligations for the first phase of its project and has a significant backlog of repairs.

He said residents are unhappy with the company’s service.

Residents at the meeting complained of low water pressure, particularly in interior areas, and requested additional pipelines.

They also asked for refunds or discounts, citing continued billing despite the weak or intermittent water supply.

In response, Prime Water officials said they need P120 million pesos to rehabilitate old pipelines.

The company stated that installing new pipes requires a proper plan and that they are working to improve water flow.

However, the company did not provide a specific timeline for resolving all customer complaints.

Carranza said the dialogue between Prime Water and residents will continue until a solution is found.
