CAVITE — Three members of the influential Revilla family, all holding public office in Cavite, have been named in connection with a corruption scandal involving government flood control projects.

Rep. Lani Mercado-Revilla of Cavite’s 2nd District, her son Cavite Board Member Bryan Revilla, and another son, Cavite 1st District Rep. Jolo Revilla, were included in a partial list of lawmakers with alleged ties to contractors engaged in multi billion pesos ghost public works projects.

The controversy centers on infrastructure contracts for flood control programs, which Filipinos across the country recently called to be investigated over reports of corruption.

The Revilla family is reportedly connected to Rebolesco Construction, a firm cited in the list as having ties to multiple members of the clan, and other construction corporations.

The company’s business interests are alleged to overlap with government-funded projects, inviting issues over conflict of interest and accountability.

Mayors and Vice mayors nationwide have signed a manifesto urging transparency and an inquiry into possible misuse of funds for flood mitigation projects.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has faced criticism for awarding billions of pesos in contracts to firms allegedly linked to sitting lawmakers.

The Revilla family has yet to issue a public statement addressing the allegations.

Cavite, one of the fastest-growing provinces in the Philippines, has been hit by recurring floods that residents say have worsened despite the influx of public funds for flood control.
