Authorities on Friday announced the successful recovery of all four victims who were trapped in a landslide that struck a construction site in Tagaytay City.

The incident occurred around 10 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2025 in Barangay Iruhin West, when a perimeter wall at the site collapsed, burying a workers’ barracks under tons of soil and debris. According to the Tagaytay City Police, four construction workers were reported trapped.

One worker was rescued on the first day and brought to Ospital ng Tagaytay for treatment. Another was confirmed dead later that day. The remaining two victims were located and retrieved by midday Friday, July 25, bringing the two-day search-and-rescue operation to a close.

The deceased were identified by their aliases—Jose, Nonong, Armond, and Mark—all of legal age and residents of Barangay Iruhin West. Their remains were recovered with adherence to disaster response protocols, officials said.

The rescue operation was a joint effort involving the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Tagaytay and Silang, local government units from both cities, Tagaytay City Rescue, police units, and barangay officials from nearby Cabangaan. Heavy equipment, including a 12-wheeler truck and backhoe, was used to support excavation efforts.

The families of the victims were kept informed throughout the operation by the City Investigation and Traffic Function (CITF) and local authorities.

The Cavite Police Provincial Office, led by acting provincial director Col. Ariel R. Red, commended the swift and coordinated response of all agencies involved.

Authorities have urged the public to stay away from the site, warning that the area remains unstable and unsafe for visitors. Cleanup operations and safety inspections are still ongoing.
