Police in Cavite have addressed a viral social media post resurfacing the case of an unidentified male cadaver found in Kawit in 2022, confirming on Sunday that the victim has since been identified, though the suspect remains at large.

The body was discovered on September 8, 2022, in a grassy area along Abaya Road in Barangay Toclong. Authorities said a Special Investigation Task Group was immediately formed by the Kawit Municipal Police Station to lead a thorough investigation.

Through coordination with the Chinese Embassy, Bureau of Immigration, Regional Forensic Unit 4A, RACU 4A, and NCRPO, the victim was later identified as a Chinese national known by the alias “Binbin,” who had been previously reported missing. An autopsy revealed the cause of death was asphyxia due to drowning.

Police said the victim’s identity was confirmed through enhanced CCTV footage, fingerprint and DNA analysis, and facial recognition technology.

While the suspect behind the killing remains unidentified, police say efforts to locate and apprehend the perpetrator are ongoing. The Cavite Provincial Police Office urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information that could disrupt the investigation.

Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to solving the case and maintaining peace and order in the province.

“The Cavite Police strongly condemn any act of violence that threatens public safety,” said Police Colonel Ariel R. Red, acting provincial director.

The public is advised to follow official PNP communication channels for verified updates.
