CARMONA, Cavite — A police officer was killed and another critically wounded after a newly released inmate grabbed a firearm and opened fire inside the Carmona police station Wednesday morning, July 2, 2025.
According to a report from the Carmona Component City Police Station, the incident happened around 9:20 a.m. when the suspect, 29, managed to seize a Glock 9mm service firearm from an officer while inside the precinct. He then shot the officer and also hit another policeman on duty.
The suspect, who had just been released from the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm on June 28, 2025, had been arrested earlier for trespassing and was brought to the station for investigation.
Despite being handcuffed, he was able to wrestle the gun and fire it. Other officers at the station responded quickly and shot the suspect.
All three were rushed to a hospital, where the suspect and one police officer were declared dead. The second officer remains in critical condition as of press time.
