NAIC, Cavite – More than 1,800 students are crammed into just two standard classrooms and six makeshift rooms at Calubcob Elementary School, highlighting the severe classroom shortage in Naic, Cavite.

According to a report by Mark Salazar on “24 Oras,” some vacant units in a nearby government housing project have been loaned to the school to serve as temporary learning spaces. However, these have done little to ease the overcrowding.

In some classes, students seated in front are almost pressed against the blackboard, while others are forced to sit at the doorway due to lack of space.

One makeshift classroom was divided in half using a blackboard as a partition, with 44 students on one side and 77 on the other.

Chairs and desks are also in short supply. Some students have to write on their laps as they attend class without proper tables.

Local officials have yet to provide a timeline for infrastructure improvements.

The Department of Education has not issued a statement regarding the situation.
