BACOOR CITY, Cavite — The Bacoor City government has enacted an ordinance waiving fees for barangay clearance certificates for senior citizens, indigent residents, solo parents, students, persons with disabilities and first-time job seekers.

City Ordinance 366-2024, signed by Mayor Strike B. Revilla, eliminates the cost of obtaining barangay clearance certificates for these vulnerable groups. The document is commonly required for employment applications and various government transactions.

Barangay clearances are basic legal documents issued by neighborhood officials certifying that residents have no pending cases or complaints at the local level. The certificates are typically required for job applications, loan applications, and other official purposes.

The ordinance reflects efforts by local governments across the Philippines to reduce bureaucratic barriers for marginalized communities. Similar fee waivers have been implemented in other cities to ease financial burdens on low-income residents seeking employment or accessing government services.

Bacoor City has a population of approximately 664,625 according to the 2020 census.

The city has experienced rapid urbanization and population growth as part of the greater Metro Manila area.

The new policy takes effect immediately and applies to all 73 barangays within Bacoor City’s jurisdiction.
