BACOOR, Cavite – Police in Cavite have arrested a suspect in connection with a murder at a hotel in Bacoor, Cavite province, authorities said Monday.

The suspect, identified only as “Romeo,” was apprehended on July 6 in Ligao City, Albay province, following a coordinated operation by local police units.

The murder occurred on July 3 at a hotel in Bacoor. According to investigators, the suspect and victim checked in around 1:57 am for a 12-hour stay. The suspect left the hotel at 6:30 am, exhibiting “hysterical behavior” when questioned by staff.

Hotel employees later discovered the victim’s body in the room. A knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was found at the scene.

Police identified the suspect through a backpack left at the reception desk. A tip from an informant led to his arrest in Ligao City.

The suspect has been charged with murder and is currently detained at the Bacoor City Custodial Center.

Bacoor police chief John Paolo V. Carracedo said, “We assure that justice will be served for the victim and their families.”
