The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) destroyed over ₱9 billion worth of dangerous drugs in Cavite on Thursday, June 6, 2024.

The incineration took place at the Integrated Waste Management, Inc. (IWMI) facility in Barangay Aguado, Trece Martires City, Cavite.

The stockpile of illegal drugs, weighing a total of 2,435,619.8626 grams, included 1,293,934.2149 grams of Methamphetamine Hydrochloride (commonly known as Shabu), 720,898.6564 grams of Marijuana, and 359,752.1449 grams of Ephedrine.

Notably, the destruction also involved the 1.2 tons of Shabu seized during a checkpoint operation in Barangay Pinagkurusan, Alitagtag, Batangas, on April 15, 2024.

The drugs were no longer needed as evidence in court, thanks to expeditious prosecution and case disposition.

PDEA, in collaboration with the Philippine National Police (PNP), NBI, and other law enforcement and military units, ensured the complete decomposition of the evidence through thermal decomposition or thermolysis.

Exposed to temperatures exceeding 1,000 degrees centigrade, the dangerous drugs became irreversibly broken down.

Representatives from various agencies, including the Department of Justice (DOJ), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), PNP, and local officials of Barangay Aguado, witnessed the destruction.

PDEA said they are committed to swiftly disposing of confiscated drug evidence to prevent recycling and pilfering of illegal drugs.
