IMUS, Cavite – The City Government of Imus congratulated the 15 Imuseño athletes who showcased their skills and stamina in seven sports disciplines at the 2023 Batang Pinoy and Philippine National Games held on December 17 to 22, 2023 in Pasig City.
The athletes brought home one gold, six silver, and eight bronze medals, making the city proud of their achievements.
Emmanuel Redilla clinched the gold medal in the Boys 13 and Under category of cycling, beating his rivals with his speed and endurance.
The four taekwondo jins of Imus also impressed with their kicks and punches. They were Eira Mharien C. Gador, who won the gold medal in Junior Female Welter Weight; Mark Christian Quinto, who won the silver medal in Cadet Male Level 5 – 160-165cm; Ron Antoni Klyde B. Gito, who won the silver medal in Cadet Male Level 3 – 144–152cm; and Sheean Rigel S. Dumat-ol, who won the bronze medal in Junior Female Light Weight.
In athletics, Jonalyn Halasan leaped to two silver medals in the Long Jump Girls U18 and Triple Jump Girls U18 categories, displaying her agility and grace.
Marc Zyrus Lazarte proved his prowess in badminton, winning the bronze medal in the 9-11 Boys Singles category.
Six chess players demonstrated their talent and strategy in their matches. They were Tyrhone James Tabernilla, who won the silver medal in Individual Boys Under 15 Rapid, the gold medal (team ranking) in Boys Under 15 Blitz, and the silver medal (team ranking) in Boys Under 15 Rapid; Maryss Annxeniel Caldoza, who won the bronze medal in Individual Girls Under 15 Rapid and the bronze medal (Team Ranking) Girls Under 15 Rapid; Nathan Jon Anarna, who won the gold medal (team ranking) in Boys Under 15 Blitz and the silver medal (team ranking) in Boys Under 15 Rapid; Jon Mark Anarna, who won the silver medal (team ranking) in Boys Under 13 Rapid and the bronze medal (team ranking) in Boys Under 13 Blitz; Christian Tolosa, who won the silver medal (team ranking) in Boys Under 13 Rapid and the bronze medal (team ranking) in Boys Under 13 Blitz; and Hannah Jillian Luminario, who won the bronze medal (team ranking) in Girls Under 15 Rapid.
For karate, Jedd-Theus J. Manzo took home a bronze medal in the Kumite 55kg category, showing his strength and skill.
Meanwhile, Florence Edith C. Mesana also won a bronze medal in karatedo, a variant of karate.
The City Government of Imus also recognized the coaches who guided the athletes. They were Joseph Araña and Kim Chan of taekwondo, Arsenio Gallaza Jr., Jimmy Gunsian, and Marie-sol Butial of athletics, Carl Kristian Clemente of badminton, Ederwin Estavillo, Zomer Amir, and Napoleon Ramos of chess, Joel Baldelobar of karate, and Jedd-Theus J. Manzo and Rainier Manzon of karate and karatedo.
Mayor Alex Advincula lauded the Imuseño athletes for their outstanding performance and thanked them for bringing honor and pride to the city. He also expressed his support and encouragement to the athletes who will compete in the upcoming regional and national events.
