Cavite Athlete Wins Silver Medal in South Korea
TANZA, Cavite — A young athlete from this town won a silver medal in the poomsae event at the 2026 7th Kim Un Yong Cup Open International Taekwondo Championships, held July 25-28 in Seoul, South Korea.
Nic Gerald Efhraim A. Pareño, a native of Barangay Bucal, Tanza, is a 3rd Dan black belt holder with the Philippine Taekwondo Association and a Philippines national athlete scholar.
His medal came after years of training and preparation to compete against top poomsae athletes from other countries.
Local officials and residents said Pareño’s achievement brings honor to Tanza and Cavite province, and called him an inspiration to young athletes in the region.
