Cavite Student Wins Gold Medals in Hong Kong Olympiads

13-year-old Cavite student wins 6 gold medals, 4 championship trophies in Macau, Hong Kong olympiads

TANZA, Cavite — A young Caviteño has again shown that Filipino students can compete on the world academic stage, winning six gold medals and four international championship trophies across two prestigious academic olympiads held in Macau and Hong Kong.

Kygel Ailenor T. Pasco, 13, a Grade 8 student at Ateneo Junior High School and a native of Tanza, represented the Philippines under the Champions League for Innovation and Learning Inc., competing against top students from other countries in mathematics, science and English.

Pasco first competed at the KOALA Excellence Olympiad Global Round, held July 3-7 at Hotel Royal Macau, where he won gold medals in mathematics, science and English. He also received the Golden Koala Champion Award Trophy for English and a second-place trophy for science.

Days later, he represented the Philippines again at the ADEPT International Olympiad, held July 11-12 at The Cityview Hotel in Hong Kong. There, he won gold medals in mathematics, science and English, along with Premier Achiever Award trophies in mathematics and science.

Across the two competitions, Pasco collected six gold medals and four international championship trophies. Beyond academics, he is also a varsity basketball player at Ateneo Junior High School.

CHAMPLI said it continues to provide Filipino students opportunities to compete in recognized international academic olympiads and other educational programs aimed at developing excellence, innovation, leadership and global collaboration.
