Cavite police seize pistol, ammo in Kawit raid; 57-year-old man arrested
KAWIT, Cavite — Police arrested a 57-year-old man and seized a pistol, ammunition and other items during a search warrant operation in Barangay Tabon III here Wednesday morning, July 22.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Eman,” is a resident of the town, police said.
Officers from the Kawit Municipal Police Station carried out the operation with support from the Cavite Special Weapons and Tactics Unit, the Provincial Intelligence Team-Cavite and the Regional Intelligence Unit 4A. The operation began around 6:30 a.m. and ended at about 10:30 a.m.
Authorities recovered a Taurus Model 1911 .45-caliber pistol, seven magazines for the firearm, 49 rounds of live ammunition, a black holster and an olive-green sling bag under the search warrant, police said.
The seized firearm will be submitted to the Regional Civil Security Unit IV-A for verification on whether it is registered and whether the owner holds a License to Own and Possess Firearms and other required documents, according to police.
All evidence was inventoried, marked and documented in accordance with existing laws and Philippine National Police guidelines, authorities said.
Investigators said they are continuing to look into possible criminal and administrative charges against the suspect.
Cavite Police Provincial Director P/Col. Ariel R. Red said the Cavite Police Provincial Office would keep up its intensified campaign against individuals who possess or use illegal firearms.
He also urged the public to cooperate with authorities by providing information to hold violators accountable and help maintain peace and order across Cavite province.
