GENERAL TRIAS, Philippines — A 33-year-old woman was shot dead Thursday afternoon in an ambush by two men on a motorcycle, police said.
The victim, known by the alias Nadia, was attacked in Sitio Sampalucan in Barangay Santiago shortly after visiting her jailed husband at a Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility in the same village, according to initial police reports.
Witnesses said the motorcycle blocked the woman’s path and the back rider drew a handgun, firing twice at her head. She collapsed next to a creek and died at the scene.
The suspects fled toward Kiko Rosa in Barangay San Francisco II. The driver wore a black T-shirt, while the gunman wore a white jacket and a white helmet, witnesses told police.
Officers from the General Trias Component City Police Station secured the crime scene and coordinated with crime scene investigators to process evidence. Police are reviewing surveillance footage and tracing the suspects’ movements.
Investigators said they have not established a motive for the killing.
