CALABARZON — Some 9,424 tricycle drivers from four cities across the CALABARZON region received P5,000 each in cash relief assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office IV-A on April 10, the second day of the agency’s fuel-crisis aid distribution in the region.
Beneficiaries came from Bacoor and Imus in Cavite, Antipolo City in Rizal, and Lucena City in Quezon.
Since the distribution began on April 8, a total of 32,305 tricycle drivers across 13 cities in the region have received assistance, DSWD said.
The aid is being released under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations program, which targets public utility vehicle drivers hit by the sustained rise in fuel prices driven by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
DSWD Field Office IV-A said it expects to reach more tricycle and other PUV drivers across the region in the coming days of April.
Affected drivers were advised to coordinate with their associations and local government units to obtain distribution schedules for the cash assistance.
