TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) destroyed approximately 2.9 tons of illegal drugs valued at P16 billion pesos Thursday morning at Integrated Waste Management Inc. in Barangay Aguado, Trece Martires City, Cavite.
The drugs, totaling 2,904,756.68 grams of solid substances and 14,117.85 milliliters of liquid substances, were incinerated through thermal decomposition, a process using 1,000 degrees Celsius to break down the materials.
The destroyed substances included 2,336,482.63 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu), 529,906.12 grams of marijuana, 3,067.69 grams of MDMA (ecstasy), 8,790.88 grams of cocaine, 11,315.99 grams of ketamine, 10,146.26 grams of nimetazepam, 41.56 grams of toluene, 4.79 grams of opium poppy, 0.58 grams of nitrazepam, 0.17 grams of diazepam, 4,506.72 milliliters of liquid marijuana, 851.13 milliliters of liquid shabu, 8,760 milliliters of ephedrine, and 5,000 grams of surrendered expired medicines.
The drugs and controlled precursors were seized in various operations conducted by PDEA in collaboration with law enforcement and military units.
The materials were no longer needed as court evidence. Notable seizures included 1,480,315.2 grams of shabu recovered in Zambales on June 20, 2025; 239,550.94 grams of shabu seized in Dasmariñas City, Cavite, on October 16, 2021; 119,843.32 grams of shabu from Calapan City on March 21, 2025; 49,705.2 grams from Muntinlupa City on March 14, 2025; 39,826.7 grams from Batangas Port on September 16, 2025; and 28,986.2 grams from Parañaque City on May 10, 2025.
Additionally, 143,161 grams of shabu were recovered by fishermen off the coasts of Bataan and Batanes and turned over to authorities.
This destruction marks the second-largest in the country’s history by volume and value, following the incineration of 3.7 tons of drugs worth P19.9 billion pesos on March 16, 2023, in Cavite under the current administration.
Attendees included Rep. Jonathan Keith T. Flores, chairperson of the House Committee on Dangerous Drugs and representative of Bukidnon’s Second District; Dangerous Drugs Board Chairman Oscar F. Valenzuela; PDEA Director General Undersecretary Isagani R. Nerez; Acting Philippine National Police Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez; officials from Barangay Aguado, Trece Martires City; and representatives from law enforcement agencies, the Department of Justice, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, and non-governmental organizations.
