MAKATI CITY — Southern Police District (SPD) officers swiftly foiled a shooting incident in Makati City on the night of June 26, arresting two Chinese nationals at the scene within five minutes of the attack.

Police said the shooting occurred around 9:13 p.m. in the rear parking area of Makati Cinema Square in Barangay Pio del Pilar, where a 40-year-old Filipino man, alias “Christopher,” was shot at while inside his SUV. The victim survived despite multiple bullet hits to the vehicle.

Responding to real-time alerts, personnel from SPD’s Makati Substations 3 and 5, along with SWAT and motorcycle units, rushed to the scene. Two suspects, identified as alias Liquan, 44, and alias Xunjun, 36, were arrested on-site.

Seized from the suspects were a Glock .40 pistol, an HK MP5 submachine gun, several knives, duct tape, and a vehicle bearing two different license plates.

Police believe the suspects intended to obscure the car’s identity. Forensic investigators recovered four spent shells at the scene.

SPD Acting Director Brig. Gen. Randy Arceo praised the rapid response and said the operation aligned with the Philippine National Police’s 5-minute response directive.

Charges of attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms are being prepared against the suspects.

Authorities are also investigating the motive, checking their immigration status, and looking into possible links to organized crime.
