GENERAL TRIAS, Cavite — Telecommunications giant PLDT Inc. is set to build its 12th—and largest—data center in General Trias as part of its long-term strategy to expand the Philippines’ digital infrastructure.

The upcoming facility will have a capacity of up to 100 megawatts, double that of PLDT’s newly launched VITRO Sta. Rosa, currently the largest operational data center in the country. The new data center will rise on a 20-hectare property owned by Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC), with half of the site allocated for the data center complex.

Construction will be completed in five phases, each adding 20 MW of capacity. Groundbreaking is scheduled for 2026, with full completion targeted for 2028. Once operational, the facility is expected to become the largest of its kind in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres Philippines (STT GDC Philippines)—a joint venture among Globe Telecom Inc., Ayala Corp., and Singapore-based ST Telemedia Global Data Centres—is expanding its footprint in the same city.

The company is building a second facility within its STT Cavite data center campus. The two-story building will span more than 4,500 square meters of gross floor area and provide up to 6 MW of IT capacity. It will also be connected to two independent power substations to ensure operational reliability.

The expansion will bring STT GDC Philippines’ total number of data centers in the country to seven.

These major developments show General Trias’ growing role as a hub for digital infrastructure in Cavite.

Officials and stakeholders say the projects will bolster the country’s digital economy and help position the Philippines as a competitive player in the region’s data center industry.
