KAWIT, Cavite – A feeding program organized by a group led by former Cavite 1st District Congressman Boy Blue Abaya and businessman Gerry Ramos was abruptly cancelled after school officials in Barangay Tabon revoked their permit at the last minute.

The group, which includes Abaya and Ramos, who are both running in the midterm elections in May 2025, had obtained permission from school officials to hold the feeding program on the school grounds.

However, just as the event was about to start, the officials suddenly withdrew their permission, citing no clear reason.

The cancellation left many residents of Barangay Tabon disappointed with the political maneuvers of the incumbent administration of Kawit.

However, the group quickly found an alternative venue, the Villa Ramirez Covered Court in Tabon 1, where they were able to hold the feeding program without any further issues.

The event was well-received by the beneficiaries, who expressed their gratitude to the BBA (Bagong Bukas ay Atin) group for their efforts.

However, the sudden revocation of the permit has raised questions about the motives behind the decision.

Many are wondering if politics, or the camp of incumbent Mayor Angelo Aguinaldo, played a role in the cancellation, given that Abaya and Ramos are both running in the upcoming elections under the principle of “Kawit Bago Sarili.”

As public servants, school officials are expected to provide a clear explanation for their actions.

The incident is a reminder for schools to remain neutral and open to all, regardless of political affiliations.

The school’s primary purpose is to serve the community, and it should not be used as a tool for political maneuvering.
