MANILA – A recent survey of municipal mayors in Cavite province, Philippines, has revealed that Kawit Mayor Angelo Emilio Aguinaldo failed to make the top 10 list of best-performing local executives, according to results released on Thursday.

The independent, non-commissioned survey was conducted by Pulso Ng Bayan – One Research Philippines Inc. from August 1-31, 2024, polling 5,000 registered voters aged 18-70 across various municipalities in Cavite.

Topping the list was Noveleta Mayor Dino Chua with a 94.2% approval rating, followed by Alfonso Mayor Randy Salamat at 92.5% and Maragondon Mayor Lawrence Arca at 89.8%.

The survey aimed to assess the job performance of mayors in the province.

Respondents were randomly selected, with the number of participants from each town and city proportionally distributed based on voter population data.

Kawit, a historically significant town known as the birthplace of Philippine independence, was notably absent from the top rankings.

Local governance experts suggest this could prompt questions about the current administration’s performance and public perception in the municipality.

The survey firm stated that the results reflect public sentiment towards local leadership and could influence future policy directions and electoral outcomes in Calabarzon Region.
