Senior Citizen Dies in Bacoor Fire

BACOOR, Cavite — A 63-year-old man died in a fire that swept through a residential area in Bacoor City, Cavite, early Wednesday.

The victim was identified as Paquito Martinito, a senior citizen who lived in the area.

A woman was also taken to a hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation.

The fire, which started at around 1:18 a.m., quickly spread and was raised to a 2nd Alarm before being brought under control at 3:55 a.m., according to the Bacoor City Fire Station.

The blaze destroyed homes and left around 600 families without shelter. The fire is believed to have started in a wooden house, but the cause is still under investigation.
